Preface
The Wolfpages are written for all interested, pupils like students, the ones
curious and yearning to learn more about wolves.
The collection was written with the intention to draw an actual
overall picture of our understanding of wolves.
It shall arouse interest but grow into a solid base for new efforts as well.
All that under reserve of limited time and knwoledge.
That's why not every line written on wolves can be recognised.
And thus I beg your pardon and invite you to make use of the rich source
of processed books, essays, research results, manuscripts and other materials
or to lay hands on yourself and fill a hole in our image of the grey fellow.
For the time being I will stick to the available literature,
many notices, newspaper articles, research papers and some experiences with
the topic to collect what is possible and publish all in one volume.
This work will focus among other things on the taxonomy of the dog-like,
comparative anatomy/ morphology of some choosen canids, wild biological problems
and solution as well as ecological speciallities of wolves (especially based upon
results of european biologists), wolves behaviour and the wolf-men-history of middle europe.
Step by step those topics will get published in form of articles, extended by
references to further, if possible deeper information, a list of books and links and
a glossary.
Thanks to Sabina Nowak of the AfN “Wilk”
for a great seminar in the southern polish Beskids and infomation on the wolves of her country.
Especially my dear friend Wiebke Pandikow has earned my thanks.
It was her who brought me to write a "Facharbeit" with her on which this
work is based as well.
In hope of having encountered open, curious and ever critic ears and eyes,
Maik Kreutzfeldt, August 2007
